Hype For Type

i'm Ashish. Born and brought up in mumbai, graduated from Sir J.J INSTITUTE OF APPLIED ART, in 2009.

I have been always intrigued by various type faces, and i love to design them. It's more than a passion. It is in fact, an obsession.

  • DESIGN INSTITUTION- where does design education in the country stands today and what is the way to the future?

Indian design schools tend to ‘produce’ students, who have a similar style and are an antithesis of a good creative education. The nature of encouraging students to discover and explore their individual spirit is lacking in India.

In contrast to the west, most Indian educators are not practicing professionals, and thats why they are not aware of contemporary design and market. And the practicing professionals don’t go back to teach and that’s the whole point.

The way to the future in design education is to widen the perspective of the educators who have the responsibly to lead design students into such a dynamic field of creativity. The educators should give freedom of thinking to the students beyond traditional and cliche environment of design practices.
